Cabin
The Hansel & Gretel House
Nestled in the corner of the main lake bank, you'll find our 19th century summer house, which we have lovingly restored and converted into a unique tiny house, perfect for a couples break away.
Step inside this tiny house and be taken back in time by the original wooden panelled interior and leaded windows features, however, the cabin has all the comforts of the modern day with a super comfy elevated double bed adorned with soft velvet bedding (we always get compliments on this bedding and have had guests ask where it is from so they can buy it for their own homes!) - note that the bed is accessed via a ladder - a TV and DVD player, with 'old school' DVD collection; dining table and chair, plus comfy lounge area with log burner.
But wait, there's more! Step through into our bespoke built extension and find a well equipped kitchen area with microwave oven, air fryer, gas hob, kettle, fridge and all of the utensils, crockery, cutlery you'll need! We also provide tea, coffee, milk and sugar. You'll also find your own private shower room and toilet room, which also had an external door leading out onto a decked pathway and steps up to the log-fired hot tub up on the wooden bank - which is fabulous for when you return to property following your hot tub session, so can come straight in and shower / get dressed without tracking through the rest of the living space.
The log-fired hot tub at the Hansel and Gretel House is situated next to the tiny house, up on the wooded bank which overlooks the lake and bank. This is accessed via steps an elevated deck which is also home to a seating area and the BBQ. The steps and hot tub are lit by festoon lighting, which makes the setting even more magical after the sun sets.
The tiny house is fronted by a country cottage garden, with little paths and shrubs, plus a traditional stone ring camp fire for you to enjoy warming up by in the evenings, or toasting marshmallows!
You'll receive a complimentary wheelbarrow of logs to keep you warm and toasty, but more can be purchased from us during your stay if you need. We do only allow logs to be burned that have been purchased from us, as we use a local firm which is HETAS accredited and limits the smoke on site. Logs are £20 per wheelbarrow, or £10 for a sack.
And, if that wasn't enough to hook you in, you'll also get FREE fishing for each person, so you can fish to your heart's content during your entire stay!
So why settle for a boring hotel when you can experience the rustic charm and luxury of The Hansel and Gretel House? Book your stay now and get ready to rest and enjoy the wonderful natural world around you.
Things to note:
- there both steps and an elevated bed in this property which is accessed via a ladder, so this property is unsuitable for those with mobility issues.
- we do not allow cars along the lake bank, but it is a very short walk from the car park around the bottom of lake to the tiny house, along the grassed bank. We provide wheelbarrows to help you transport your things, but you may need to bring wellington boots as the bank can get wet / muddy in the winter months or after wet weather.
- we do not provide towels, so please remember to bring your own!
- we recommend bringing a torch to help navigate around the site after dark
- if you wish to fish, you must adhere to our fishery rules
