Small and secluded super dog friendly couples retreat, one of just 3 beautiful glamping cabins nestled in the undulating hills of Rutland, Rutland Rural Retreats is set off the beaten track, within 4 acres of wonderful old meadow land, bordered by an array of hedgerows, trees and brooks. These Rural Retreats have been designed with comfort in mind; for couples and paws to escape from everyday life, enjoy the tranquillity, beauty and nature that surrounds the cabins and........ relax. Shepherds Rest has its own enclosed garden area (the largest of the 3) for piece of mind and enjoyment when bringing canine companions. Please note height of fencing at this unit is 1 metre in places. (Consider booking Bumblebee if you have more athletic paws which has 1.5 metre high fencing.) If you are looking for that special, intimate getaway, far from the madding crowd, this is the place for you.

Situated approx. 4miles from the quaint & historic market town of Uppingham and just a short drive from the famous Rutland Water nature reserve and the ancient woodlands of Launde and Wakerly, Rutland Rural Retreats is set on the edge of the beautiful conservation village of Belton In Rutland. Access is gained through the main wooden gates where you will see horses meandering nearby. Follow the signs to the private car park. From there luggage trolleys are provided for you to transport your belongings the short distance from the car park, along the winding limestone track and over the wooden footbridge and babbling brook, into the meadow beyond.

Stylish and well equipped, Shepherds Rest is furnished with a King size bed (in a separate bedroom), single pull out leather sofa/day bed, hand made kitchenette with belfast sink, oak work top, breakfast bar, oven, two ring hob and fridge with small freezer compartment, en-suite with electric shower, sink, flushing toilet and heated towel rail and underfloor heating! The outside area is equally well thought out with large enclosed garden, outside dining and comfortable seating, parasol, sun loungers and meadow views. A fire pit with BBQ arm and paella pan is also provided as standard.

Bedding and towels can be added as extras at time of booking. We find many guests prefer to bring their own, especially when bringing canine companions, so we exclude from the standard price to give guests that added flexibility. Following feedback with our glamping pods, we have also included a pull out sofa bed into the design for Shepherds Rest to enable guests travelling as friends or family or those who need separate sleeping arrangements to have that option. Remember to book bedding for this separately if required (or bring your own.). It also makes a wonderful day bed for reading 🥰

For the ultimate glamping experience there is also an eco friendly wood fired hot tub for those wanting to while away those lazy summer afternoons with a glass or two of something bubbly at your side.

One 10kg bag of logs together with kindling and firelighters are included in this package for use with the fire pit and/or hot tub. More can be purchased separately as required but It only takes approx half a bag to heat the hot tub for an eve (and it will stay warm over night for a lovely morning dip if you pop the cover back on over night) so you are only likely to need extra if staying for a longer duration . Please note guests are responsible for filling and heating the hot tub which takes approx 1 hour to heat up once filled with water and 1 hour to fill before lighting. This is all part of the experience. Just enough time to unpack, crack open a bottle and get settled in.
